Summer activities for young people
On the 9th and 10th August 10Radio will be running a free, inclusive two day activity for young people of all abilities. If you are, or you know, a young person who may be disabled or may need additional support from time to time, then this could be for you.
There will be a place for you whatever your interests are - if you want to write, sing, dance, direct, plan, learn the equipment, or simply find out a little more about how a radio performance is put together.
Food will be provided , you’ll be supported by other young people and CRB checked adults will be there throughout. And it's free!
To book a place e-mail or call 01984 624721 and ask for Mark Blaker.

Heart FM closes - 10Radio rises!
Heart FM, formerly Orchard FM, have closed their Somerset studio in Taunton leaving 10Radio as the only independent radio station broadcasting on FM from and to the Taunton Deane area in Somerset. While Heart FM, which is owned by Global Radio, will continue to broadcast to Somerset, they won't have any local presence and very little local content. Meanwhile 10Radio, which is owned by the local community, is entirely based in the local area, and all its content is locally produced. Local media is clearly struggling, with commercial radio stations closing all over the country, newspapers contracting, the internet taking more and more advertising revenue, and global media companies extending their reach. It all points to the need for local media outlets to work together to provide the local coverage that residents want, but organisations like Heart FM can't afford to provide.
10Radio's Derek Skeavington was interviewed by Emma Britain on BBC Somerset in a discussion about the state of the local media. He said "We provide important access to the media in a very rural area. As always, content is king but we don't have the resources to gather everything ourselves so we work with other media organisations such as the BBC who provide our news. We would love to work with other local media organisations by, for example, having a journalist from a local newspaper to work with us on providing content and in the process they'd get good experience and the newspaper would get additional exposure".
Somerset is GO!
Dedicated to discussing the impact of the economic downturn on Taunton and its surrounding area, every week for the next six months 10Radio will be talking to local businesses about the how the recession has affected them, and what they're doing to survive.
Tune in every Wednesday at 5pm, repeated Saturday at 12 noon.
