Somerset is GO!
Somerset is GO! is 10Radio's new programme dedicated to how the recession is impacting upon the people and businesses of the Ten Parishes, Taunton, and the surrounding areas.
The programme will be broadcast every week for six months from March. Presented by Philip Knighton and other colleagues from 10Radio, the show will talk to local businesses about how the recession has hit them, and the measures they're taking to survive. It will also find out about how the recession is impacting individual people.
Somerset is GO! is kindly funded by Taunton Deane Borough Council's Recession Relief Fund.
Somerset is GO! is broadcast every Wednesday at 5pm, repeated on Saturdays at 12 noon.

25 August 2010: Hosted by Prof. Patrick Jordan. He will be putting rural racism under the spotlight. Those of us who live in rural communities like to think of them as being friendly welcoming places, Patrick will be asking “but, are they”? Recent police figures rank Somerset as the sixth most racist area of the country out a total of 51 police districts and things seem to be getting even worse as the effects of the economic downturn start biting harder – inevitably racism and race hate crime can rear it’s ugly little head.
Patrick will be joined by Andy Merrifield, Deputy Director of the Somerset Racial Equality Council and One Love co-ordinator Kira McCoy and looking after the soundtrack will be 10Radio’s Eddie Gaines.
And on September 1st 'Somerset is Go!'Philip Knighton hosts a special discussion with guests Simon Denton of Milstead Langdon and our own MP Jeremy Brown. It seems scarcely possible that the six month series has come to an end,but this should be a fitting conclusion .We will be looking at the recession both locally and nationally and attempting to divine what the future holds for all of us.
