New dates for Desk Training and Basic Editing

Training Dates

Everyone is welcome to come and take part in supporting and operating 10Radio and there's no requirement to take up any of the training offered...

However, if you want to be as good as you can be, we have organised a full training programme from which you can pick the sessions that appeal to you the most. Whether you have any radio experience or not these will give you the chance to increase your radio skills and make friends at the same time!

All of the sessions last for 2 hours, cost £6, and must be booked in advance. The sessions are provided on a fairly regular basis. Details of up-coming sessions are available here. Desk Training

A 6-week introduction to using all the studio equipment needed to present programmes. It will give you the chance to try out all the skills and the results will be recorded so that you can hear how good you are!

Basic Editing

Many of the programmes are re-broadcast at different times of day. This short course (2 weeks) will introduce you to the editing software (Audacity) that we use to edit original output and add it to the computer ready for re-broadcast.

Creating a Feature

How to make the best bits even better (and decide which bits to leave out!). This is another session with practical teamwork against the clock. This is not a technical session; no equipment is used.

Using Portable Recording Equipment

Using the recording equipment and microphones correctly for the best effect. Recording equipment is available to borrow from 10Radio if you need it. This is a two-part course linked to the following session. You should book both unless you already have experience in editing recorded material.

Editing Your Recordings

Use editing software (Audacity) on a computer to create the program you want from the recordings you've made. This is a two-part course linked to the preceding session. You should book both unless you already have experience in using portable recording equipment.
